A New Year Letter from the Principal | Our Shared Resolution for 2026

Dear Students,
Greetings!

Surjeet Singh, School Principal

A new year is more than just a date on the calendar. It is a moment to pause, reflect, and step forward with purpose and clarity. As we step into 2026, I write to you not only as the Principal of the school, but as someone who truly believes that education is about preparing students for life, not just examinations.

As we close another exciting academic year at Manthan, we celebrate our students’ achievements, resilience, and growth. Academically, our students have performed exceptionally well in board exams, secured Cambridge Learner Awards once again, for the fourth consecutive year. In sports, school increased participation significantly, with two High School students representing us at the national level in Volleyball (U-17), while eight Middle School students will compete in SGFI Volleyball (U-14). Beyond academics and sports, students actively participate in cultural events like Rangmanthan, science festivals, and global ISP initiatives, reflecting our commitment to nurturing well-rounded learners. With the new Block 3, upgraded labs, modern learning spaces, library, students’ lounge, and sports facilities, we continue to provide a safe, engaging, and future-ready campus that prioritises student wellbeing and holistic development.

A new year brings hope and a chance to make resolutions. My wish for you this year is simple: grow not only in knowledge but also in values, courage, discipline, character, and respect for time.

Our Resolution Begins with Values
True learning goes beyond textbooks. It is about being honest when it’s hard, kind when it’s inconvenient, and responsible even when no one is watching. Your daily choices quietly shape your character, and those choices define the person you are becoming.

The Courage to Learn and Improve
Courage is often misunderstood. It is not about showing off or being the loudest in the room. True courage is asking questions, admitting you don’t know everything, and being willing to improve. Never hesitate to ask questions. Each question you ask helps you think deeper, understand better, and grow stronger.

Setting Priorities: Excellence Is a Series of Small Choices
Excellence is never accidental. It comes from focus, planning, and consistency. Big goals are important, but they are achieved through disciplined daily effort.

Discipline and a Sense of Pride
Discipline is not a punishment; it builds confidence and self-respect. Wearing your school uniform neatly and with pride shows that you belong to a community that values equality, dignity, and shared principles.

Punctuality: A Promise to Yourself
Being on time may seem small, but it is powerful. Arriving on time shows respect for your learning, your teachers, and yourself. Punctuality sets the tone for your day, promotes focus, and becomes a habit that shapes responsible individuals.

To Our Teachers
Your guidance and dedication inspire students every day. Through your care, commitment, and example, you shape not only academic success but also the attitudes and character of our students. Your work makes a lasting difference.

To Our Parents
Your encouragement, patience, and trust play a key role in your child’s growth. Every child is unique with their own pace and strengths. Your support strengthens the home-school partnership and nurtures lifelong learning.

Looking Ahead
The school is committed to providing great opportunities for our students in 2026. Set priorities, be a self-regulated learner, live life by design, give your very best each day, and stay positive. Take ownership of your learning, growth, and actions.

I look forward to a year filled with curiosity, discovery, laughter, and shared success.

Wishing you a very Happy 2026!

Learning visits in Manthan

Learning visits in Manthan

At Manthan, we do it differently... Yes!!

When I first started working in Manthan there was a vibe in the air. The buzz around told me that something BIG... something DIFFERENT was happening in the classes. That’s when I learnt about an exquisitely unique concept called as “LEARNING VISITS”.

Learning Visits are visits to any classroom with the main purpose of gathering evidence of student learning in real time and then using that evidence to improve learning and teaching.

What is a learning visit?

A learning visit is a structured opportunity for educators, leaders, and sometimes students from partner schools to visit one another with a clear learning focus. Unlike traditional school visits, learning visits are intentional, reciprocal, and reflective. They are designed to explore specific areas of practice such as curriculum design, pedagogy, assessment, inclusion, student well-being, or leadership development.

At its core, a learning visit is about learning with and from each other.

The “Manthan” teachers primarily attend a class and observe the Learning of the students, as opposed to the traditional approach of observing how a “teacher” is teaching.
The focus is on how “learning happens around four key questions”
1. Are students learning?
2. How do we know?
3. Where and how can we get better?
4. What action(s) can we take to improve?

Teachers discuss the learning patterns, pedagogies and approaches to teach a particular concept and reviews the gaps in learning.

The pace and ability of the learners is also considered. When I visited a Grade 5 English class, I was pleasantly surprised at the innovative questioning done by the students. It was a great change from the routine questioning done by the teachers. This not only helped the students to be boldly inculcating the questioning skills, but it also made them research the topic and come up with good conceptual clarity.

Wear your thinking cap!!!

The extraordinary practice of giving the onus of learning to students through flip classroom teaching was clearly an ACE!!
When I look back, I feel I have missed doing this as an academician in my classes both as a teacher and a student in my younger days.
Now, we have the bandwidth and the opportunities to make paradigm shifts in our teaching strategies and approaches.

Kudos to team Manthan for bringing back the “LOVE OF LEARNING” in the classrooms.

Signs your child Is in the right learning environment and why they matter?

Signs your child Is in the right learning environment and why they matter?

MS. PRATIBHA GUPTA, Teacher Leader | High School Cambridge

A parent’s guide to spotting engagement, healthy teacher interactions, confidence, and a positive classroom climate.

When parents look for the best school for their child, the focus often goes to results, facilities, infrastructure, or reputation. But what truly shapes a child’s happiness, motivation, well-being, and long-term success is the quality of the learning environment they experience every day.

A strong, child-centred environment goes beyond completing a syllabus; it nurtures curiosity, builds confidence, ensures emotional safety, and encourages children to enjoy learning. Here are five key signs that your child is in the right school, illustrated through practices at Manthan School.

1. The child shows genuine engagement and curiosity

One of the strongest indicators of a healthy learning ecosystem is when children come home excited about what they learned. At our school, hands-on and experiential learning leads to high engagement, whether it’s Grade 9 students investigating separation techniques in the Chemistry lab, learners applying mathematical concepts to real-life problems, or students participating in debates, discussions, and creative language activities.

Our approach includes:

  • inquiry-based tasks
  • interactive science labs
  • problem-based learning in Maths
  • group presentations and debates
  • real-life project connections

When your child talks about a Science investigation or a lively Social Science discussion, it shows the classroom is active, stimulating, and meaningful.

Why it matters:
Engaged learners develop a lifelong interest in learning. This mindset promotes independent thinking, deeper understanding, and academic resilience.

2. Teachers communicate respectfully and Consistently

Positive teacher–student relationships sit at the heart of any successful school. At Manthan, this is reflected in the warm tone teachers use, the clear expectations they share on Teams, and the constructive feedback they provide during CTs and assignments.

Parents often notice:

  • PTMs where feedback is balanced and thoughtful
  • prompt clarifications via email or calls
  • circle-time conversations where children feel heard
  • teachers encouraging questions without hesitation
  • When students mention their teachers with respect and comfort, it shows they feel emotionally safe and supported.

Why it matters:
Children learn better when they feel valued. Respectful communication boosts confidence, participation, and overall academic performance.

3. The child feels confident and emotionally safe

A positive school environment helps children grow emotionally and academically. We have seen quiet students become active participants through:

  • class presentations (including GP projects)
  • learning exhibitions like Srijan (Science Fair) and Tech Fest
  • whole-segment events such as Rangmanthan
  • leadership roles like student council or clubs

Many Grades 9 students who began the year hesitant became confident through structures like Quality Circle Time, where discussions on values, responsibilities, and teamwork happen without judgment.

Parents often observe:

  • reduced school-related anxiety
  • willingness to participate in competitions
  • openness about challenges

Why it matters:
Emotionally safe children take healthy risks, express ideas freely, and persevere through challenges, crucial for both academics and life.

4. The school encourages values, relationships, and well-being

A truly holistic school focuses on character, values, and interpersonal relationships. At Manthan, students learn empathy, resilience, and responsibility through QCT, advisory sessions, and daily interactions.

Examples include:

  • lessons integrating communication, collaboration, and responsibility
  • anti-bullying programmes that empower student voice
  • open access to the Safeguarding Lead and School Counsellor
  • cleanliness and discipline routines that build ownership
  • group service projects that nurture social responsibility
  • sports, clubs, and cultural activities that build teamwork and confidence

These experiences shape students into grounded, thoughtful individuals.

Why it matters:
Academic excellence becomes meaningful when paired with emotional intelligence and strong values. When children learn in a supportive environment that respects their voice, they develop both knowledge and character.

In conclusion
Every child deserves a school where learning feels joyful, confidence grows naturally, and emotional safety is a priority. When an environment is rich in engagement, positive teacher relationships, structure, and strong values, children not only perform well academically but also thrive as individuals.

At Manthan School, we believe that preparing children for life is just as important as preparing them for exams. By working together as parents and educators, we ensure our children grow into capable, responsible, and compassionate young adults.
